Greetings! I am a corvidophile (lover of corvids) of the extreme. I just adore ravens (and crows) and have since I was a child. After collecting a slew of links, I thought it was finally time to put up a site on one of my favorite subjects.

One of the questions that I've been asked, as I'm sure we all have, is "What is your favorite bird?" Upon my answer of ravens, they immediately follow up with an astonished "Why?!"

Its not really hard to explain the attraction to corvids. Besides the fact that they are extremely smart, handsome looking, funny characters, to me they bring up wonderful childhood memories. My parents took me camping quite a bit when I was young, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now, whenever I hear a raven's call, I am taken back in time and remember laying in my tent in the morning, being awakened by the ravens as they flew overhead or squabbled in the trees above me.

Nowadays, it seems that all corvids have a bad name. Ravens and crows are considered evil, ill-omened, or gloomy birds. Jays and magpies are considered pesky. I don't find them ominous in the least, rather a comforting source. I think ravens are a very imposing, but in a good way, wonderfully sleek looking with the all black plummage. There are also many myths where they were posed in a good light (check out the literature links for more details). My favorite being the story of Odin's two ravens - Hugin and Munin, Thought and Memory. He sends them out at dawn each morn and they return with tales of what has happened in the world.

I hope that this site will show you the good side of the raven and crow! There are stories to read and a ton of links to visit.

Please let me know if you have any corvid related links to add as well! You may notice that there are no picture galleries on this site. I found with the multitude of copyrights, it wasn't worth the trouble. Some of the links do have galleries however, and there is a wallpaper section that has some pictures I've taken, scanned, or given permission to put up.
